More hats!

Here's the second hat I made for T. I finished it by adding a cream colored satin ribbon through the edging. It turned out quite nice. Of course, T's little girl, Clara, loved it!! She just loves hats!! I will post a picture of T wearing it sometime soon. It actually fit. Funny what a little measuring and a gauge swatch will do. I can't figure out how to rotate this picture correctly! T, help!!

Although T doesn't think she looks good in hats, she does. I've now made two hats for her. Lesson learned. Measure the recipients head BEFORE you finish the project! The first one was a tad too small, as you can see. It really wasn't supposed to be a stocking cap. It's a tam! And my first try at fair isle. So, I just had to take the hat back and wear it myself!

I started on the project shown here in approximately June 2007, hoping to finish it for a Christmas present 2007. Instead, it became a Christmas present for 2008! Lace is a lot of fun, but time consuming!!!!! This was a gift for my assistant, who as you can see, loved it!!!!

My big red felted purse

Here are three pictures of my big red felted purse. I made this a while ago for one of my younger sisters for her birthday. I used a Noni purse pattern, and Cascade 220 yarn. The pattern called for 5 balls of yarn, but I only used 4. This was super easy to make. After knitting the purse, I felted it and then picked out some fabric for the lining. I confess that I had a professional seamstress make the lining for me. I was too scared that I would mess up the purse! I think it turned out great! The only thing that I would change is the handle. I have noticed that the handle has stretched over time. So, I am going to ask my sister for the purse back and I'm going to cut off the felted i-cord handle and attach a leather handle. I'll use the silver rings for another project. A red or a black leather handle would look nice.

My Harry Potter scarf.

I'm back! Here's my Harry Potter scarf, modeled by a willing co-worker. I could always use this yarn to make the UCLA socks if necessary. I think the scarf turned out great. It has the same number of stripes as the scarf in the first Harry Potter movie. I need to make one in the pattern for the upper grades for Hogwarts.

This scarf was a lot of fun and really easy to make. It's knit in the round so it is really thick and warm. I started it for one of my nieces as a surprise. About halfway through, I asked her one day, "So, if you were wanting to wear a Harry Potter scarf, which house would you choose?" I was shocked when she didn't say Gryffindor. She wanted a scarf in Hufflepuff colors!!! So, I finished up this scarf and gave it to a co-worker to give to her grandson who is REALLY into Harry Potter. She gave it to him for Christmas. She gave me a great picture of him wearing it, but I don't have that picture saved on my computer so I can't share it with you!! Sorry!!!

I made the scarf from Lion Brand Wool-Ease yarn. So, it was affordable to make!

Hello to all our of fans out there in the blogosphere!!!! I know you've missed T and Marny, but we're back!!! Thanks for waiting for us!

So, I've received some comments wanting to know what happened to the socks! Yes, I had 68 rows left to go on the second sock the night before the gift exchange. So, I gave my co-worker ONE sock, which he loved, and finished up the other sock over the course of the week. He still got the socks before the new year came around. I've posted a picture of the finished socks here. These socks can be worn to every MIZZOU or Steelers game. My co-workers' son now wants a pair in UCLA colors. I've been looking for some self-striping yarn in these colors, but haven't come across them yet. We'll see!

I've completed several more projects since I last posted. I'll talk about each one separatly in separate posts.

Okay, it's Tuesday night. We're having a luncheon on Thursday at work to exchange gifts. I am making Mizzou-striped socks for one of my co-workers. I have one sock finished. BUT...and here's the problem...I have 68 more rows to go on the other sock!!!! Oh, no, Mr. Bill!!! And, I didn't leave the office until 9 p.m. tonight, so I haven't yet done any work on the sock tonight. Do you think I could stay home from work tomorrow to finish the sock???

And you're of no use to me right now - since you can't knit socks!!!

** Somewhere Over the Rainbow

Good evening! I'm getting ready to watch "Dexter," one of my favorite shows of the season. Tonight is the season finale!!

I made cookies tonight! I made some family secret cookies called Treasure Island Cookies. Boy, these are good! I made them for a cookie exchange, and despite the fact that they turned out really good, there are enough left for the exchange. Usually, I enlist the help of my sisters to make cookies because I only turn the oven on once or twice a year. Eagle Eye (my sister) called to make sure that there weren't any emergencies! To everyone's surprise, I'm sure, the cookies turned out decent and were not a disaster. Uh, oh, I may be letting the secret out that I actually can cook. This is going to ruin my master plan!!

I've had the most beautiful rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" in my head all day. I was searching You Tube last night for Eva Cassidy's version, which is incredibly powerful. How's the Christmas tree coming? Don't get too distracted by eating all of the chocolate chip cookies! I am going to have to make it a habit of stopping by each night to get some freshly baked homemade chocolate chip cookies. YUM YUM!

How's your shopping going? I started off doing great back in November, but I'm now stuck on about four more presents, and it's getting quite late to order anything off the internet, which means I'm going to have to brave the mall. UGH. And, I've come to the conclusion that I'm just not going to be able to finish all of the knitting projects that I started. I'm so sad about that. I will have to check the family webpage to see if others have obeyed your rules. I'm going to post that email you sent to the family!

It really is pretty easy and you can get really creative. Go to that website I mentioned in my first post and you can see a lot of different patterns. I downloaded several of them. So, I'll be taking off work the week between Christmas and New Year's and we can get together then and I can teach you how to do it! Or, if you're dying to learn before Christmas, we can get together one evening or weekend before then, but there's not much time left!!

Hey T: I just created our blog!!! I've named it "T and Marny." Somehow, I need to figure out how to add a subtitle, which will be, "The All True Travels and Adventure of a Neurotic Fiber Artist and her Sister." Or something like that. Can't decide how to describe myself. Am I, "and her obsessive-compulsive sister?" Or, am I, "and her AR sister?" Or, "and her perfectionist sister?" Or, something else???? HELP!!! How would you describe me???

So, I tried to call you tonight, but you were busy washing dishes, or at least, that's what KD said. I needed you to come over tonight to help me with my Christmas cards. I decided to stitch all of my cards this year. Yes, I made that decision a few weeks ago, but I just started on the cards last night. I got the pattern from http://www.stitchingcards.com/. COOOOOOL patterns!! Anyways, I made one card last night. ONE CARD!!!! It took me 45 minutes! So, I need your help. I only have like 65 more cards to make. WE NEED TO START NOW!!! HURRY!!! COME OVER PLEASE!!!! DROP EVERYTHING YOU'RE DOING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've added a picture of the first card. It does look nice. I still need to actually make it into a card...... I think Momma will like this! She's probably the only one who will get one. Would it be bad to just color copy it and send it to everyone else????
